Shalimar
The world's best Indian food north of 60 degrees can be found at Austur India Felagio. I headed one tick south for the much humbler Shalimar, just off the city centre. The menu of the day, with all three dishes -- chicken pancake, okra something, and beef something else -- runs about 1900 krona. If you're accustomed to legal tender with all the buying power of a third-world currency, like, say the US greenback, that'll be about $30. Tack on another $15 for that bottle of English ale.

Your beer was a good choice, Graham Greene's cousins owned Greene King. A very literary pint !

On this journey through strange lands, you're bound to encounter frightening, unexplainable things. The demise of the dollar, for example, could shake any man's belief in faith-based fiscal policy. Something to ponder over your next $10 beer. Benvenuto in Europa, amico. -- Bernhard
